Who we are
This website is operated by EVOLVEMETER (PTY) LTD, registration number K2023274154, a private company registered in South Africa.
We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

What this policy covers
EvolveMeter is not yet operational. At this stage the website does one thing: it lets you register your interest so that we can contact you when the first EvolveMeter tools are released.
This policy covers only that registration. When the platform launches and begins processing needs, contributions and verifications, this policy will be replaced with a fuller one, and we will notify you before that happens.
What we collect
When you complete the activation form, we collect:
- Name — the name you give us
- Email address — so that we can contact you at launch
- Country — so that we know which data protection law applies to your information
- User type — whether you are registering as a Guardian, School, Teacher, Individual, Family, Business, NGO, or Contributor / Funder
- Phone number (optional) — so that we can reach you at launch if email does not
- Organisation (optional) — the school, business or organisation you are registering on behalf of
- What you would most want to measure first (optional) — your answer, in your own words
We also automatically record basic technical information when you submit the form, including your IP address and the date and time of submission. This is kept for security purposes — to detect abuse of the form — and nothing else.
We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to count visits to this website. It does not set cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not collect information that identifies you.
Anything you write in your own words is stored exactly as you type it. Please do not include personal information about other people in that field.
We do not collect passwords, identity numbers, financial information, physical addresses, or any information about children. There is no login and no account to sign in to at this stage.
Why we collect it
We use your information for one purpose: to contact you when the first EvolveMeter tools are released, and to send you occasional updates about the project's progress before then.
Your answer to what you would most want to measure first helps us decide what to build first. We look at those answers together rather than individually, and we do not publish them.
We will not use your information for any other purpose without asking you first.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Our lawful basis
We process your information on the basis of your consent, which you give by submitting the activation form. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us at dohan@checknet.co.za or by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you. Withdrawing consent will result in your registration being deleted.
Who has access to it
Your information is accessible only to the people working on EvolveMeter who need it, and to the service providers who operate our infrastructure on our behalf:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — website hosting, application processing, database storage, analytics and network security
- Zoho Corporation — email services
These providers act on our instructions only, under agreements that require them to keep your information confidential and secure. We do not share your information with anyone else, except where we are required to do so by law.
Where your information is stored
Your registration is stored in a database restricted to the European Union, operated by Cloudflare, Inc.
Our email to you — the confirmation message and any updates — is handled by Zoho Corporation, whose services for our account are hosted in the United States.
Although your registration is stored in the European Union, our website runs on a global network. This means that when you visit the site or submit the form, your request may be processed at a Cloudflare location closer to you before the information is stored in the European Union.
If you are in South Africa, this means your personal information is transferred outside South Africa — to the European Union for storage, and to the United States for the purpose of emailing you. We rely on the contractual and technical protections that Cloudflare and Zoho are bound by, which require a level of protection substantially similar to that required by POPIA. Both providers publish their data protection commitments, which you may review on their websites.

How long we keep it
We keep your registration until one of the following happens:
- You ask us to delete it. We delete it within 30 days of your request.
- You unsubscribe or withdraw consent. We delete it within 30 days.
- You do not respond. If you have not responded to us or engaged with us within 24 months of the platform opening, we delete your registration. We will email you before we do so, giving you the chance to stay on the list.
- The project does not proceed. If EvolveMeter is discontinued, we delete all registration data within 90 days and tell you that we have done so.
Technical logs (IP address and submission timestamp) are kept for 12 months and then deleted automatically.
How we protect it
- All traffic between your device and our website is encrypted (HTTPS).
- There is no login and no password, so there is no password of yours for us to hold or to lose.
- Access to the stored information is restricted to named individuals who need it.
- We keep records of who has accessed the data.
No system is completely secure. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by law.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access — ask what information we hold about you
- Correct — ask us to fix anything that is wrong or incomplete
- Delete — ask us to erase your information
- Object — tell us to stop processing your information
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without giving a reason
- Complain — to the Information Regulator (see section 13)
How to exercise these rights: email dohan@checknet.co.za with your request and the email address you registered with. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act, to make sure we are not giving your information to someone else.
Our response time: we will acknowledge your request within 5 working days and complete it within 30 days. If a request is unusually complex and we need longer, we will tell you why and give you a new date.
There is no charge for exercising these rights.
Age restriction
You must be 18 years or older to register on this website. EvolveMeter does not knowingly collect the personal information of anyone under 18 at this stage.
If you believe that a person under 18 has registered, contact us at dohan@checknet.co.za and we will delete the registration.
If you are registering from outside South Africa
EvolveMeter will operate in more than one country. Where the law of your own country gives you rights in addition to those described above, those rights apply to you as well.
If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 applies to your information, and you may contact us at dohan@checknet.co.za to exercise the rights it gives you.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first at dohan@checknet.co.za so that we can try to resolve it.
You also have the right to complain directly to the Information Regulator of South Africa:

Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the updated version on this page with a new "last updated" date. If the change is significant — particularly when the platform launches and we begin processing more than a registration — we will email you before it takes effect.
